About us
The Henry Parkes Foundation was set up in honour of Sir Henry Parkes at the instigation of his descendants and others on the centenary of his death. Its aim is to carry forward Parkes’ work in maintaining Australia as a just and egalitarian democratic society.
In particular, the Foundation aims to encourage Australians to find out more about their country’s political and constitutional history, and about how they can participate as citizens.
The Foundation has been established as a charitable trust, with three trustees under the direction of a Board of Advisers. Donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible.
The Henry Parkes Foundation is a non-partisan, non-profit, charitable trust. Although one of its aims is to encourage discussion and debate about political issues of the day, the Foundation does not, as an organisation, hold particular views on these issues.
